چکیده

The broadband SEDs of blazars exhibit two broad spectral components which in leptonic emission models are attributed to synchrotron radiation and SSC radiation of relativistic electrons. During high state phases the highfrequency SSC component often dominates over the low-frequency synchrotron component implying that the inverse Compton SSC losses of electrons are at least equal to or greater than the synchrotron losses of electrons. The linear synchrotron cooling, usually included in radiation models of blazars, then has to be replaced by the SSC cooling. Here, we present an analytical solution to the kinetic equation of relativistic electrons subject to the combined synchrotron and non-linear synchrotron self-Compton cooling for monoenergetic injection. We calculate the timedependent fluxes and time-integrated fluences resulting from monoenergetic electrons cooling via synchrotron and SSC, and suggest this as a model for the broadband SED of Compton-dominated blazars.

Klein-Nishina Effects on Optically Thin Synchrotron and Synchrotron Self-Compton Spectrum

We present analytic approximations to the optically thin synchrotron and synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) spectra when Klein-Nishina (KN) effects are important and pair production and external radiation fields can be neglected. This theory is useful for analytical treatment of radiation from astrophysical sources, such as gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), active galactic nuclei and pulsar wind nebula, whe...

Grb 080916c: on the Radiation Origin of the Prompt Emission from Kev/mev to Gev

Fermi observations of high-energy gamma-ray emission from GRB 080916C shows that its spectrum is consistent with the Band function from MeV to tens of GeV. Assuming one single emission mechanism dominates in the whole energy range, we show that this spectrum is consistent with synchrotron origin by shockaccelerated electrons. The simple electron inverse-Compton model and the hadronic model are ...

Overall Temporal Synchrotron Emissions from Relativistic Jets: Adiabatic and Radiative Breaks

We discuss the afterglow emission from a relativistic jet that is initially in the radiative regime in which the accelerated electrons are fast cooling. We note that such a “semiradiative” jet decelerates faster than an adiabatic jet does. We also take into account the effect of strong inverse-Compton scattering on the cooling frequency in the synchrotron component and therefore on the light cu...

Constraints on the emission mechanisms of gamma-ray bursts

If the emission of gamma–ray bursts were due to the synchrotron process in the standard internal shock scenario, then the typical observed spectrum should have a slope Fν ∝ ν , which strongly conflicts with the much harder spectra observed. This directly follows from the cooling time being much shorter than the dynamical time. Particle re–acceleration, deviations from equipartition, fastly chan...

A synchrotron self - Compton model with low energy electron cut - off for the blazar S 5 0716 + 714

Context. In a self-absorbed synchrotron source with power-law electrons, rapid inverse Compton cooling sets in when the brightness temperature of the source reaches TB ∼ 10 12 K. However, brightness temperatures inferred from observations of intra-day variable sources (IDV) are well above the ”Compton catastrophe” limit. This can be understood if the underlying electron distribution cuts off at...
